8 new vulnerabilities of Spectre were detected in Intel processors at once. Four of them have high risk, the remaining four have medium risk. These new vulnerabilities are commonly referred to as Spectre Next Generation (NG).
At the moment, technical details about vulnerabilities are not reported. It is only known that the attack scenario for Spectre NG vulnerabilities is similar to the one used for the original Spectre vulnerability. New vulnerabilities appear to affect cloud service providers and cloud hosting. However, attackers can exploit security vulnerabilities to gain access to data transfers and compromise protected data.
Intel has already started to develop patches to address Spectre NG vulnerabilities. However, the corresponding patches should be released and developers of operating systems. The patches are expected to be released in two waves. The first wave of updates is expected this month, and the second will appear only in August. But these data can still be specified.
It is also reported that some ARM processors are also vulnerable to Spectre NG. But the details are not yet specified.
